With
the beginning of the 2022 racing season rapidly approaching, the 2022
Memberships are now due. Also required along with this year’s
Membership is a complete W-9, both can be found and may be printed from
links on the website. Everyone competing in 2022 must fill out a
2022 Membership form along with the tax form.
PLEASE do this before the 2022 racing season begins.

Regarding the annual preseason tech Inspection:
This year’s Inspections will be held on Saturday, March 12th
beginning at 9:00am. To reserve a specific inspection time contact Tech
Director, Doug Weiss at: doug.weiss@caseys.com.
The inspection location is 2509
NE 46th Ave. – Des Moines.
(Rick Clarks shop) Again,
your truck(s) must be inspected before you can participate in 2022
events. There will be no
preseason inspections done at the track(s).
NO EXCEPTIONS.
In the event that a truck is not
inspected during a scheduled pre-season tech inspection, they will be
required to contact the DTRA Tech Director to make arrangements for that
truck to be inspected before competing in any DTRA event.
Above and beyond the pre-season inspection, it is the driver’s
responsibility that his truck is legal and complies with all DTRA rules
and regulations at and during all DTRA race events.
Trucks not inspected on the scheduled pre-season tech date will
be assessed a $250.00 inspection fee per location, for one truck.
An additional $100.00 fee will be charged for each additional
truck inspected at the same location. Also understand that just
because your truck has been thru a preseason inspection that does not
guarantee that it will pass postrace inspections at the track.
As always, I encourage each and every one of you
to review the rules completely.
Also, please take note of the 2022 Schedule.
Earlier we sent out a message that a race scheduled in July at
the Marshalltown Speedway has been moved to Friday August 5th.
As always, I ask if you know someone who will be
participating in DTRA events and they are not on our email list, please
pass this information on to them.
We wish you all the best of luck in your racing
endeavors for 2022!

DTRA Board of
Directors Vote
to FOREGO 2020 SEASON
May 27th,
2020 – During an afternoon meeting on Tuesday, May 26,th, out
of an abundance of caution for the safety of all involved as we deal
with COVID-19, the Karl Chevrolet Dirt Truck Series Board of Directors
voted unanimously to forego the series 2020 race season.
The vote came after much discussion regarding
the concern over the health and wellness of the drivers, crew members,
officials, fans, friends, and their families during this current
Coronavirus Pandemic. It is
the board’s opinion that there is just too much that we do not know
about this virus and what is going to happen over the next few months
concerning everyone’s safety.
While our series drivers are fierce competitors
and race each other hard at every event, our group is a close-knit
organization who races for fun and enjoys the interaction among
themselves, other teams at the track and of course the fans.
That interaction, for now, has been interrupted with mandates and
recommendations that social distancing which remain a priority for
everyone, everywhere. Also,
with the loss of so many scheduled events already and the probability of
losing additional events to mother nature, our season would simply be
too short.
All promoters at our scheduled tracks have been
contacted and understand our concerns and our difficult decision to
cancel the season. We have
confirmed that we will be able to work with all the
promoters/tracks to schedule the series at their tracks for 2021.
Current DTRA sponsors are also on board to support the series’ return
next year.
Thank you for understanding at this most unusual
time. The Karl Chevrolet Dirt Truck Series looks forward to returning to
the track in an even Bigger and Better way in 2021.
Please stay safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
- Karl Chevrolet DTRA Series Board of Directors
Notice! May 6, 2020
It is time for us to conduct the pre-season
truck inspection, in an effort for us to be ready to race once mandates
for gatherings have been lifted. It
is important that your truck is inspected on the scheduled date.
Again, your truck must be inspected before you can participate in any of
the 2020 scheduled events. The scheduled date for the pre-season
inspection this year is Saturday, May 16th. As in past years, the
inspection will be held at the Karl Kustoms faculty. We will use a
door located on the south side of the building, located at 5927 NE
Industry Drive, Des Moines. Inspections will be done beginning at
8:30 AM and must be complete by noon. Again,
your truck(s) must be inspected before you can participate in 2020
events, there will be no pre-season inspections done other than on this
date. NO EXCEPTIONS. With
what is going on with the Covid – 19 Virus this year, it is very
important that everyone complies with the inspection date and follows
the social distancing guidelines during the inspection process.
Inspections will be done on a first come, first serve basis.
Again, we must be done and out of the building by noon.
In other news, we are not sure when our first
race of the season will be.
What we are sure of, is that it will not be on Saturday May16th at
Boone. Lou is staying in
close communications with the tracks and we are all watching closely the
mandates in place for gatherings.
As soon as we are made aware that any of our scheduled races can
move forward, we will let you know.
Thanks in advance for your full cooperation and understanding
during these difficult times.
As always, I ask if you know someone who will be
participating in DTRA events and they are not on our email list, please
pass this information on to them.
Notice! March 21, 2020
In an effort to assure the safety and health of our
competitors, crew, officials and fans and to further the abundance of
caution of procedures, that we are seeing in Iowa and nationwide, to put
an end to the Covid-19 Pandemic; the DTRA Board of Directors have
unanimously agreed it is best to postpone the start of our 2020 season
until May. We will re-evaluate our preseason inspection and the
beginning of our season in mid-April and will align the series with
local, state and national guidelines that may be in effect or predicted
at that time. We have never experienced anything like this in our
lifetime and everyone’s health and wellbeing is of the utmost
importance. Please stay safe and healthy and stay tuned . . .
Notice! March 17, 2020
The DTRA preseason inspection scheduled for
Saturday March 21st has been postponed. As we learn more from our
health and government officials regarding the coronavirus and how
scheduled events will proceed, we will let you know when the annual
inspection will proceed. With that being said, there is a chance
that race events may be postponed or cancelled early in the 2020 season.
DTRA officials are monitoring these possibilities with area promoters
and our health and government agencies. As we learn more, we will
pass all of this information along to you.
For now, we encourage you to be aware of your
surroundings and follow the suggestions of our health officials to stay
safe and well. Stay tuned for updates . . .
Sincerely,
DTRA
